At Klimt Cairnhill, all that glitters can be gold

Experience golden moments of beauty to last a lifetime at this freehold development on Cairnhill Road. Artist's impressions: Klimt Cairnhill

At Klimt Cairnhill, an alchemical feat is in the works: Gold is neither hard nor cold. Instead, the 36-storey tower features a delicate golden screen weaving in and out among the stacks in a romantic revival of Art Nouveau in central Singapore.

Located at 71 Cairnhill Road – on the site of the former Cairnhill Mansions – the freehold development by developer Low Keng Huat (Singapore) is built around a meticulously preserved 1902 Anglo-Malay bungalow converted into its clubhouse. With references to the rich heritage of its setting, Klimt Cairnhill is a celebration of timeless beauty.

PEACE IN THE HEART OF THE CITY

Despite being a mere eight minutes’ walk to the Orchard Road shopping belt and an eight-minute drive to the Central Business District, Klimt Cairnhill is surrounded by the same tranquil calm enjoyed by generations past. The 138-unit development is a leafy enclave that offers residents a quiet home sanctuary that still lies within easy reach of urban conveniences.

Klimt Cairnhill is less than 10 minutes’ drive from the cultural and dining hubs of Marina Bay Sands, the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay and Dempsey Hill, and only one minute’s drive from The American Club and the Tanglin Club. In six minutes of driving or less, residents can access an array of medical services at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Paragon Medical, Camden Medical and Health City Novena, Gleneagles Hospital and Gleneagles Medical Centre.

For families with children, Klimt Cairnhill is less than 1km away from EtonHouse International Pre-School and Anglo-Chinese School (Junior), and within easy reach of other reputable schools like St Joseph’s Institution, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School and Catholic Junior College.

Residents will also enjoy the convenience that comes with living so close to the city centre. Klimt Cairnhill is six minutes’ walk away from Newton MRT station, two minutes’ drive from the Central Expressway and seven minutes’ drive from the Pan Island Expressway. The Singapore Botanic Gardens are two MRT stops away, while less than 10 minutes of driving will bring you to Fort Canning Park or Gardens by the Bay for a morning stroll in nature.

WHERE LIVING BECOMES AN ART FORM

Inspired by the Art Nouveau movement’s stylised take on leaves, flowers and vines, Klimt Cairnhill slows the frenetic pace of life down with natural features like the Art Nouveau Garden and the Golden Tree Garden, set next to a wide carpet lawn perfect for picnicking or sunbathing. Designed by DP Architects with greenery by STX Landscape Architects, Klimt Cairnhill combines form and function into a harmonious whole.

The Oasis at Klimt Cairnhill

Welcome your visitors at the Grand Arrival Porch and head five floors up to The Oasis, which houses the children’s playground, reflecting pool, leisure pool and kid’s pool as well as a 50m lap pool. For those looking to unwind while working out, The Horizon Terrace on Level 14 offers an exercise terrace, chill out deck, meditation deck, and gym alongside a community garden for green-fingered residents.

The Garden Court – which spans the first to fourth levels – is the place to luxuriate in the beauty of nature and art alongside family and friends. In addition to Tapis Vert – the aforementioned carpet lawn – and artistic elements like the Love Sculpture, Mosaic Carpet and Tree of Life, the Garden Court boasts an outdoor function terrace, a waterwall, a heated jacuzzi, and dining and BBQ terraces to play host at gatherings.

For intimate meetings, retreat to the Clubhouse Lounge in the conserved bungalow, which has retained its traditional Anglo-Malay architecture from the early 20th century. Inside, however, one can expect full modern luxury. Private dining rooms are available for celebrations and events, while relaxing after a long day at work is best done on the clubhouse verandah, where one can enjoy the evening breeze with cocktail in hand.

A RAREFIED SPACE, WITH ROOM TO GLOW

There are two penthouses at Klimt Cairnhill. Penthouse Royal will appeal to those who love plenty of headroom, with 4.8m-high ceilings in its living and dining areas. Its expansive 4,898 sq ft on the 36th floor holds six bedrooms. Penthouse Posh offers a lavish 5,920 sq ft spread across the 35th and 36th floors and features a double-volume space with five en-suite bedrooms and two study rooms. Both penthouses come with outdoor balcony jaccuzis.

For that extra touch of exclusivity, units with more than three-bedrooms all have private lifts, with the Penthouse Posh having an additional internal lift for its two floors. DP Architects has thoughtfully designed every aspect of the units, including the air-con ledges, which are cloaked from outside view by the golden Art Nouveau-inspired screen. Balconies are also screened to provide privacy while selected units have both wet and dry kitchens.
