The 2022 edition of the Bib Gourmand selection for the Michelin Guide Singapore has bestowed honours on a total of 67 eateries, nine of which are new entries.

On this coveted list announced on Tuesday (Jul 5), 40 are hawker stalls, along with five street food establishments and 22 restaurants that boast Singapore’s multicultural range of cuisines.

Part of the Michelin Guide Singapore, the Bib Gourmand category was created in 1997 to recognise establishments that offer diners a value-for-money gourmet experience in Singapore, with a complete and high-quality menu priced at a maximum of S$45. All eateries are nominated by Michelin guide inspectors.

Of the nine additions to this year's list, five are restaurants, three are hawker centre stalls and one is a street food establishment.

On the hawker front, there are two stalls from Kim Keat Palm Market & Food Centre in Toa Payoh. Firstly, Nan Xing Zhou Beef Noodle which offers blanched rice noodles tossed in a thick gravy. Also making the list is Lixin Teochew Fishball Noodles, well-known for their handmade fish balls, which are springy in texture and mixed in with blanched noodles tossed in chilli sauce with crispy cracklings.

There is also Berseh Food Centre’s Kelantan Kway Chap Pig Organ Soup, which is a hit with patrons thanks to their pork cuts and offal cooked in a soy-based marinade with spices, boasting rich and deep flavours.

Street food stall Sing Lung HK Cheong Fun on Beach Road is also recognised, thanks to the chef’s velvety Hong Kong-style rice noodle rolls made to order.

“With this selection of newly awarded Bib Gourmand locations, we celebrate the dynamism of the local food industry, which has neither lost at all its passion, nor its quality of offerings," said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide.
