Planning a trip to Desaru? Here's a handy list of hotels to stay at for your weekend getaway

With the launch of a new ferry service between Singapore and Desaru, it’s now an opportune time to rediscover all that this coastal town in Johor has to offer. Here are four hotels to spend a night or two.

A family day out at Adventure Waterpark, a golfing session with your buddies at The Els Club, a much-needed spa session at world-class luxury resorts. All these and more are now available at the revamped Desaru Coast.

And with the new ferry service between Desaru and Singapore starting on Thursday (Jul 7), you’re in for a fuss-free travel experience. It takes just 90 minutes, while those who prefer driving up will require approximately two hours.

If you’re heading to Desaru for a weekend getaway, here’s a handy list of hotels to stay at, along with the latest deals.

ANANTARA DESARU COAST RESORT & VILLAS

Desaru’s beachfront is now home to several luxury hotels, including Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas. The sprawling property boasts a total of 108 rooms, villas and residences. Facilities include two swimming pools, an alfresco beachfront restaurant, an Observatory Bar with 360 degree views of the resort and ocean, and the signature Anantara Spa.

With the resort’s newly launched Summer Pool Villa Bliss package, priced from US$1,090 per night (S$1,521) for two pax, stay in your very own pool villa complete with a private gazebo and plunge pool. That includes two nights’ accommodation, daily breakfast at Turmeric restaurant, 15 per cent off dining and spa treatments as well as selected resort activities.

Bigger groups can opt for the indulgent Stay 3 Pay 2 Beach Residence Escape package which offers a complimentary night in a sprawling beach-facing residence for every two nights booked. Rates start from US$5,342 per night, based on six adults and three children (or nine adults). You’ll enjoy direct beach access, a private infinity pool facing the ocean, sundeck with loungers and private butler services.

HARD ROCK HOTEL DESARU COAST

Also a stone’s throw away from the beach is Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast, which, unsurprisingly, is decked out in rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia.

There are a total of 365 music-inspired rooms and suites with balconies. And if you’re a music fan, the Sound of Your Stay music programme offers guests the ability to set up a pop-studio in your room, complete with your own Fender guitar. You can also opt to have a Crosley turntable in your room where you can listen to a collection of iconic records chosen by Hard Rock’s team of music experts.

Offers include Retune at Hard Rock, priced from RM865 per night (S$273), which offers guests a two-night stay in a King Bed room, daily breakfast for two, and two 60-minute spa treatments for two persons at Rock Spa.

If you’re planning a romantic getaway, the Naughty and Nice package (from RM1,115 per night) includes two nights in a King Bed room, daily breakfast for two, a candlelight dinner at The Elephant & The Butterfly for two, and a 60-minute spa treatment at Rock Spa for two.

THE WESTIN DESARU COAST RESORT

The Westin Desaru Coast Resort is described as a refreshing sanctuary set along the South China Sea. It features a plethora of restaurants and a beach bar, including Italian restaurant Prego, international restaurant Seasonal Tastes and MIX Lounge, which serves freshly brewed coffee, tea and other drinks. The aptly named Heavenly Spa boasts a full menu of holistic body treatments. 

For golfers, book the Escape! Golf Package (from RM980 per night) that comes with daily breakfast for two, an 18-hole round at the Ocean Course of The Els Club, complimentary one hour use of the driving range and 10 per cent off F&B at the hotel’s dining venues.

For a pampering weekend, the Escape! Heavenly Spa package (from RM980 per night) includes daily breakfast for two, and a spa treatment worth RM280. Choose from three options – 60-minute Urutan Malaysia, 60-minute Muscle Release or 60-minute Golfer’s Massage.

ONE&ONLY DESARU COAST

For a truly indulgent getaway, splurge on a stay at ultra-luxury resort One&Only Desaru Coast. Designed by famed Australian architect Kerry Hill, One&Only is an exclusive 45-key property. There are 42 Junior Suites and two Grand Suites. The most luxurious option of all is the exclusive four-bedroom residence, Villa One. The property also boasts Club One, a hub of sports activities, and beach club Ember.

The resort’s Wonders of Desaru Stay Experience (from S$803 per night), applicable for a minimum two-night stay, entitles you to accommodation with your own private plunge pool, gourmet breakfast for two, as well as a RM300 resort credit for use in the restaurants, bars or rejuvenating Chenot Spa. Every booking will also include one complimentary daily guest activity. DESARU COAST STAY AND GOLF PACKAGES

To commemorate the launch of the new ferry service, Desaru Coast Destination Resort has also launched an array of staycation packages, which include hotel stays (at either Anantara, Hard Rock or The Westin), return ferry tickets and Desaru Coast activities.

The Beach Getaway for Two package (from S$743 nett) includes daily breakfast for two, Adventure Waterpark tickets for two or a guided Beach & Tide Pool Walk for two, a three-course lunch for two at Big Easy Bar & Grill located at The Els Club Desaru Coast, and an Italian set dinner for two at Prego, The Westin Desaru Coast.

The Golf Galore package (from S$422 nett per person for one night), includes daily breakfast and golfing sessions at The Els Club – one round of 18-hole golf at the Valley Course and one round of 27-hole golf at the Ocean Course. After a gruelling morning, tuck into a three-course lunch at Big Easy Bar & Brill or Lembah Restaurant.

If you’re staying for two nights, the package will start from S$622 nett, with an additional round of 18-hole golf at the Valley Course.
