Get in the right spirits this weekend as the DFS Group unveils the eighth annual Masters of Wines and Spirits (MOWS) event at Infinite Studios.

With more than 140 pieces from 60 of the world’s most legendary wine and spirits houses, be among the first to explore the collection before it is showcased at Changi Airport Terminals 2 and 3 until the end of April.

The collection features noteworthy pieces, such as the oldest whisky ever released by The Macallan, The Macallan 72 Year Old in Lalique – The Genesis Decanter; a set of three extremely rare vintages, The Chateau Lafite Rothschild Double Magnum Collection; and an exceptional bottle produced from the owner’s original stocks – Port Ellen’s 39 Year Old.

Among the many prized pieces of the DFS MOWS collection, here are the stars of the weekend.

THE CHATEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD MAGNUM COLLECTION

A classified First Growth, Chateau Mouton Rothschild spans 90 hectares of vines at Pauillac, in the Medoc. Its history is that of a magical encounter between a terroir and a man, the legendary Baron Philippe de Rothschild (1902 – 1988), renovator of Mouton and a pioneering figure in the world of wine. Baroness Philippine de Rothschild (1933 – 2014), who owned the property, continued her father’s work and reaffirmed the link between Mouton and art while ensuring the continued excellence of one of the world’s greatest wines. It is now owned by her children.

Mouton Rothschild is famous for its labels, commissioning world-renowned artists to do annual paintings on the label. International masters who have produced such labels include Andy Warhol, Marc Chagall, Joan Miro, Pablo Piscasso and more. To be presented at DFS are a unique magnum set of six exceptional vintages from 1988 to 2009.

Inspired by Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France, Rare Le Secret Magnum Vintage is royally embellished with a one-carat precious stone on interwoven golden bands set with 510 diamonds.

Presented in a majestic box, this spectacular edition has been, for more than 20 years, in the vaults of Regis Camus, Cellar Master of Piper-Heidsieck’s Rare Champagnes. The prized champagne deserves all the attention accorded to it, as only three bottles have been produced for each jewel.

THE DALMORE CONSTELLATION VINTAGE 1973 DRINKING CABINET

Commissioned by The Dalmore Master Distiller, Richard Paterson, this handcrafted cabinet contains the drinking accoutrements that Paterson believes will allow the connoisseur the opportunity to truly savour The Constellation Vintage 1973 (cask No 10). Only three sets of this special collection created for DFS have been produced.

This exquisite vintage has been aged for several long years in the finest American white oak before being further matured in a hand-selected Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrique from the prestigious Chateau Haut Marbuzet. From this noble cask, the whisky has drawn seductive notes of grape, cranberries and black cherries, before its final refinement in a small batch Kentucky bourbon barrel. The finished product is a whisky full of exotic and majestic flavours that is perfect for sharing with friends and family.

THE GLENFIDDICH 45 YEAR OLD

Assembled by Malt Master Brian Kinsman, this is one of the rarest bottlings ever created, with only three bottles ever released. The Glenfiddich 45 Year Old is an exclusive blend for DFS MOWS and honours a whisky-making tradition dating back to 1887.

The result is a magnificent malt that is seductive and sensational, with a distinct oaky warmth and floral sweetness. Hand-bottled at The Glenfiddich Distillery, each numbered bottle is presented in a deep red Italian hand-stitched leather box.

KARUIZAWA SINGLE MALT

Possibly the last ever cask of Karuizawa Single Malt to be bottled in Japan, the Karuizawa Single Cask 1995 was distilled just a few years before the closure of the distillery.

Matured for 23 years in a Japanese red wine cask made from French oak, the single malt has been bottled at cask strength in August 2018. With only 124 bottles produced, this Single Cask whisky is a rare example of Japanese liquid history, made available exclusively to DFS.

PORT ELLEN 39 YEAR OLD

An elegant 39-year-old Single Malt Whisky, unlocked from the heart of Port Ellen, married from a selection of former Bourbon and Sherry refill casks. Located on the isle of Islay, Scotland, Port Ellen became the first distillery to trade with North America in 1848.

This is the oldest Port Ellen ever to be released to the public from the owners’ original stocks since the distillery closed over 30 years ago. The limited offering of just 1,500 bottles worldwide is the start of a new collectable series – The Untold Story of Port Ellen: The Spirit Safe.

THE MACALLAN 72-YEAR-OLD IN LALIQUE – THE GENESIS DECANTER(Photo: www.themacallan.com)

Macallan presents The Macallan 72-Year-Old In Lalique – The Genesis Decanter, the oldest whisky ever released by the Macallan family, in commemoration of the opening of its new Distillery and Visitor Experience in Scotland.

With a limited release of only 600 decanters, the piece is specially curated for MOWS, a VIP experience inclusive of two-way airport transfer, a guided tour of The Macallan Estate and New Distillery complimented with a private tasting, ending off with a whisky-pairing dinner followed by a one-night stay in Easter Elchies House, the spiritual home of The Macallan.
