First launched in 2012, Global Wellness Day was created to inspire people to take one day out of the year and dedicate it to living well in order to improve both mental and physical health. Every year, Global Wellness Day falls on the second Saturday in June, with this year’s celebration taking place today (June 13).

With all the unpredictability and volatility going on in the world today, taking a moment away from everyday stressors seems all the more necessary this year. To help you along, Mandarin Oriental Group is holding a 24-hour Instagram livestream, with a myriad of wellness experiences hosted by its hotels around the world taking place throughout the day.

Activities include yoga by the river in Bangkok, a wellness talk in Miami, a healthy cooking class in New York, and a sunset meditation session in Turkey. For those who prefer something a little more fast-paced or strenuous, there’s also cardio workouts, circuit training and other fitness sessions such as tennis drills and barre.

The live-streamed activities, complimentary for anyone to join in, are available via each hotel’s Instagram account. Activities will begin at 7am SGT and will go on for another 23 hours.

“During this time of unprecedented stress and anxiety, we all need calming and life-affirming experiences,” said Jeremy McCarthy, Group Director of Spa & Wellness at Mandarin Oriental Group.

“Now, more than ever, people are realising the importance of physical health and mental wellbeing in our lives. While many cannot physically visit one of our spas at this time, our goal with this initiative is to use technology to bring Mandarin Oriental’s wellness expertise into our guests’ homes, wherever they may be in the world.”
