Phase 2 is just two days away, and the reopening of malls is welcome news for shoppers who haven’t been able to browse and buy in person since the circuit breaker began. ION Orchard, arguably Orchard Road’s most famous shopping mall, is preparing to welcome shoppers through its doors again, rolling out a series of enhanced measures and spending rewards programmes to ensure visitors have a peace of mind when shopping.

“We’re ramping up mall hygiene and safety to ensure that the health and safety of our shoppers, tenants, and employees are well taken care of. That is our top priority,” said Yeo Mui Hong, Chief Executive of Orchard Turn Developments, which manages the mall.

“As we progress towards Phase 2 safe transition, we are also working closely with our tenants to create a safe experience for all when the time comes, in line with the government’s safety guidelines. It is important that all shoppers have peace of mind at ION Orchard. In the meantime, we hope that shoppers will enjoy the rewards and promotions that we have in store for them.”

Here’s what to expect come Friday.

SAFETY FIRST

In line with government regulations, the mall will be implementing enhanced safety measures. Shoppers will undergo temperature screening at all entry points to the mall, and must also wear a mask at all times. You’ll also need to check in with SafeEntry, and maintain a safe distance of 1m from fellow shoppers.

To ensure the cleanliness of the mall, ION will ramp up sanitisation efforts. Frequent touchpoints such as mall railings, escalators and lifts will be disinfected regularly, and hand sanitiser dispensers are available at all entry points, lift lobbies and concierge counters. Express priority quests at concierge counters for seniors and expectant mothers have also been introduced.

Within the mall, keep a look out for illustrations by artist Grace Ciao, outlining the mall’s safety measures. Ciao has illustrated for some of the fashion industry’s leading names, including Chanel, Dior and Elie Saab. The illustrations inject a sense of fun to the these important reminders.

“I’m elated to have the opportunity to use my craft to help communicate crucial information in this trying time. As a fan of ION Orchard... I’m pleased that my illustration can lighten the heaviness and help add some certainty and peace of mind to shoppers like myself,” Ciao said.

REWARDS & PERKS
