Dress up in Chanel and waltz in a Parisian ballroom with this VR experience in Singapore
Dance in grand ballrooms and prance around a garden, all while wearing Chanel with this virtual reality theatrical dance show by Spanish choreographer and filmmaker Blanca Li.
Spanish choreographer and filmmaker Blanca Li has partnered with fashion powerhouse Chanel to bring Paris to Singapore through an award-winning Virtual Reality (VR) theatrical dance show.
The 35-minute virtual experience, titled Le Bal de Paris de Blanca Li, will make its Southeast Asia debut at this year’s Singapore Street Festival, taking place from Mar 2 to Mar 17.
In this multisensory experience, audience members can don outfits featuring emblematic codes and symbols of Chanel, such as tweed, quilting detailing, and the camellia, from a virtual collection fitting a grand Parisian ball, and follow along as two lovers, Adele and Pierre, reunite in Paris.
With the built-in room-scale VR, participants will be able to watch their virtual hands and legs move as their physical ones do while they dance in a grand ballroom, travel across a lake on a boat and attend a garden party.
This is unlike most VR applications, which only allow users to engage with the virtual surroundings while remaining stationary in reality.
Through WiFi streaming, Le Bal de Paris de Blanca Li also allows 10 people to interact with one another as they simultaneously bask in the VR experience. And with music and audio playing from the VR headset, the audience can fully immerse themselves in the show.
Boasting an inclusive experience for all, the show accommodates people from different walks of life, including those with mental and physical difficulties.
Le Bal de Paris de Blanca Li won Best VR Experience at the 78th Venice International Film Festival. It first premiered in Chaillot, Theatre National de la Danse in 2021 and has since been taken across the world, including France, Italy and Taipei.
Le Bal de Paris de Blanca Li will take place at Singapore’s Infinite Studios from Mar 2 to Mar 17. Tickets are available on SISTIC.
