Bentley and Ducati join forces to create the first two-wheeled Bentley in history
There are only 500 numbered units of the ultra-exclusive Ducati Diavel for Bentley.
Following closely in the slipstream of Lamborghini and Aston Martin, Bentley has unveiled its first motorcycle during Art Basel in Miami last month in collaboration with Ducati.
The ‘Ducati Diavel for Bentley’ is an audacious alliance between the two brands, both part of the Volkswagen Group, and will see just 500 numbered units produced. And if that isn’t already exclusive enough, there’s a second, built-to-order edition of 50 units of the ‘Ducati Diavel for Bentley Mulliner’ reserved for Bentley customers.
The first edition comes in Metallic Scarab Green, with its sculptured, muscular bodywork inspired by the Batur – Bentley’s most powerful and expensive car with a 740 PS twin-turbo W12 engine, of which only 18 units will be produced.
The designers of both houses did a brilliant job of transferring the Bentley DNA onto the Diavel.
The first-ever two-wheeled Bentley is a striking visual statement largely clothed in carbon fibre. Styling cues from the Batur abound, manifested most conspicuously on the side air intakes that echo the distinctive red-on-black diamond pattern found on the front grille of the car, as well as the rims design borrowed from the Batur.
Its black alcantara rider’s seat, meanwhile, is inspired by the interior of the car, with the Bentley logo embroidered in red on the rear pad above the dual exhaust – a feature that’s unique to the Bentley version of the Diavel.
Mechanically, it’s built on the technical base of Ducati’s Diavel V4, with the same 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine making 168 horsepower, which will prove more than ample whether snaking through mountain passes or sitting in a collector’s garage.
Now with the ‘Ducati Diavel for Bentley Mulliner’ series, a select 50 existing Bentley owners will have the option of personalising their ‘Ducati Diavel for Bentley Mulliner’ in concert with Centro Stile Ducati, Ducati’s design team in Bologna, and Mulliner, the oldest coachbuilder in the world and Bentley’s in-house bespoke division.Clients can match the colour of their bike with their Bentley if they so wish or choose a bodywork colour from the exclusive Mulliner palette, as well as specify their preferred shades for the saddle, brake calipers, carbon fibre parts and rims.
As with all collectible Ducatis, these special editions come with a certificate of authenticity reflecting the model’s name and the production number of the unit displayed on a carbon fibre plate on the motorcycle, and will be delivered in a personalised wooden case.
There’s also a special Capsule Collection of limited edition jet-style helmets and jackets available exclusively for ‘Diavel for Bentley’ owners to complete the look.
