In case you missed the news, in October 2022, Seiko Watch Corporation announced the establishment of Grand Seiko Asia Pacific, its third regional subsidiary. Headquartered in Singapore, the new entity will expand the brand’s presence in the Asia Pacific region.

And on Feb 22, Grand Seiko Asia Pacific announced the opening of its first standalone boutique in Singapore, located in luxury shopping destination, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

In addition, Singapore is the first new market to unveil Grand Seiko’s new boutique design, inspired by its core values Takumi (expert craftmanship), Tradition, Nature and Modernity. The welcoming boutique is minimalist in terms of aesthetics, with a warm colour palette of gold, white and blue.

Here, Grand Seiko fans can engage more closely with the brand and discover its range of exquisite timepieces, such as the boutique exclusive Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon SLGT003.

The timepiece – which was nominated for the Chronometry prize at last year's Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG) – boasts an innovative Calibre 9ST1 movement. An engineering feat, it features a combination of a tourbillon and a constant-force mechanism on a single axis, which has never been seen before.

The watch is named Kodo, Japanese for “heartbeat”, due to the unique motion of the two mechanisms and the sound of the rhythm it makes.

Commenting on the boutique opening and the future of the brand in the region, Akio Naito, chairman of Grand Seiko Asia Pacific and President of Seiko Watch Corporation, said: “The creation of this new company was another milestone in the history of Grand Seiko. I am certain that Grand Seiko Asia Pacific will allow us to further increase the brand’s profile in this important region. I believe that we can look forward to a golden era for Grand Seiko.

“Singapore is home to some of the most knowledgeable and passionate luxury watch enthusiasts in the world, and we are excited to provide them with a more direct interaction with the brand,” Naito added.
