Italian luxury brand Tod’s drops first-ever collaboration with Lamborghini
Two models have been launched – a special edition Gommino and a casual sneaker – with a leather goods and clothing collection to follow.
There are driving shoes, and then there are Tod’s for Automobili Lamborghini driving shoes. The latter, a resounding triumph in style when two Italian design powerhouses come together and swap DNA.
Eschewing the aggressive stance and silhouette of a Lamborghini, and adopting instead the quiet elegance of Tod’s Gommino, the iconic, best-selling model on which the first of the footwear collaboration is based.
Unveiled at men’s fashion event Pitti Uomo in Florence, the hand-crafted, Italian-made loafers are made using the finest leathers sourced from the world's best tanneries, and come in hues echoing the vivid livery of Lamborghini's super sports cars.
A range for women is also available, and both collections can be purchased on Tod’s website at only a slight premium to the standard Gomminos.
The stylistic features of the supercar reverberate most on the Gommino’s outsole; the rubber pebbles design mirroring the Y-shaped headlights of Lamborghini’s Revuelto, the supercar maker’s first series production electric hybrid vehicle to hit the market.
But it’s not entirely quiet luxury if you consider the Lamborghini’s Raging Bull logo conspicuously affixed to the rubber heel.
A second special edition model, a leather sneaker with suede inserts, has swiftly followed, featuring the Lamborghini logo on the side, the Tod’s logo stamped on the tongue, and more of those signature rubber pebbles on the heel and cupsole. Four colours are available: Pure white plus three models featuring contrast piping in striking yellow, green or light blue.
These will later be accompanied by a leather goods and clothing collection to complete the collaboration.
