IWC’s virtual reality experience of its ION Orchard boutique is a world-first
Is this the future of shopping? The IWC Virtual Boutique offers watch enthusiasts a 360-degree walk-through of the ION Orchard store, including close-up views of timepieces.
Swiss watch manufacturer IWC first opened its doors in Singapore with a boutique in ION Orchard in 2009, before expanding its footprint in the country with a flagship store at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
Taking the bricks-and-mortar boutique experience digital, the ION store has now become the world’s first IWC Virtual Boutique, allowing collectors and enthusiasts to discover the brand’s collection on the go, without having to leave their homes.
Entering through a web link, visitors to the IWC Virtual Boutique are greeted by the familiar facade of the ION store. Through 360-degree technology, the walk-through is designed to be as close to a real life visit as possible.
All six of IWC’s product families – Pilot’s Watches, Portugieser, Portofino, Da Vinci, Aquatimer and Ingenieur – are on display. With a click, visitors may view selected timepieces up close, with technical specifications and pricing available at a glance.
However, as the digital platform does not function as an e-commerce store, purchases cannot be made on the IWC Virtual Boutique.
Instead, visitors may book a private e-appointment with IWC’s Client Advisors, or place a call from 10am to 7pm on weekdays.
Speaking of the launch of the virtual reality experience, Stanislas Rambaud, Managing Director for IWC Southeast Asia said, “IWC has always been a pioneer in new innovations to enhance the journey of discovery for our clients. With the launch of our new virtual reality retail experience, the IWC Virtual Boutique perfectly embodies the brand’s DNA and offers a tailored online shopping experience."
"At a time where virtual connections are more frequent and accessible than physical ones, visitors can now enjoy the convenience and availability of an IWC experience, outside the traditional retail infrastructure."
