French luxury house Louis Vuitton has unveiled a new fine jewellery collection for the boys. Titled Les Gastons Vuitton, the collection is inspired by the playful personality of Gaston Louis-Vuitton, grandson of the house’s founder, Louis Vuitton. The collection name is also a nod to the French phrase “Les Garcons”, which means “the boys”.

There are a total of 18 pieces in the collection, ranging from rings, pendants, necklaces, tags, gourmettes, bracelets and earrings. Designed with a masculine feel, they incorporate the house’s signature monogram and trunk motifs.

Laser cutting technology was used to create the monogram pattern on the jewellery, while the maison’s signature trunk motif is seen in its smallest version yet as pendants, studs and on a necklace.

Gaston-Louis Vuitton was known as a creator, a collector and had a curious mind. Fittingly, the collection is divided into three themes. The Creators features a puzzle ring and a pendant that doubles as a refillable draftsman’s pencil. The Collectors features staples such as bracelets and signet rings adorned with the iconic monogram flower and logo. The Curious pays homage to the famous trunk, with miniature versions of the motif with diamonds.

Materials used for the collection include white gold, yellow gold and titanium. In particular, a new dark-blue titanium was developed for the line, inspired by blue denim, a universal staple in one’s wardrobe. “This collection is a bit like your pair of jeans,” said Francesca Amfitheatrof, artistic director of watches and jewellery at Louis Vuitton. “Everyone owns a pair of jeans and the more you wear your jeans, the more you love them.”

The blue adds a modern contrast to white gold and yellow gold. While the collection is billed as a men’s collection, the pieces can be worn by women too.

Prices for the collection start at S$4,700 for a small ring, going up to S$67,000 for the masterpiece Trunk Necklace in white gold, accented with sparkling diamonds and engraved with monogram icons.

The Les Gastons Vuitton collection launches on Jan 18 at Louis Vuitton boutiques in ION Orchard and Marina Bay Sands.
