Omega and Swatch’s MoonSwatch line-up gets new Super Blue Moonphase

The MoonSwatch line-up has a new addition and it’s a pretty good-looking one at that. Swatch has announced the release of the Mission To The Super Blue Moonphase, which features a chronograph function and a moonphase positioned at the two o’clock subdial.

As its name suggests, the watch is crafted in varying shades of blue, with a blue Bioceramic case, crown and pushes, a blue Velcro strap with contrasting light blue topstitching and a blue Bioceramic attachment loop. It also has a blue and silver-opaline panda dial, with blue hands and hour markers.

Why blue, you ask? The watch is a celebration of the full blue moon on Aug 19, the first super moon of the year. The model will be on sale only from Aug 1 to Aug 19, and during the blue hours from 5pm, "exactly the time when we feel like winding down the day by sipping a drink", Swatch said in a press release.

A check on Swatch Singapore’s website indicated that it will be sold at the ION Orchard store.

Alongside the chronograph function, the watch has a multi-shade blue moon phase painted with UV ink, set against a dark celestial background. Notably, this is the first MoonSwatch in the collection with a pulsometer scale instead of a tachymeter function.

Swatch and Omega rolled out its MoonSwatch collection in 2022 with a total of 11 models as a more fun, affordable version of the time-honoured Speedmaster Moonwatch. Different editions have dropped over the last two years, including the Moonshine Gold editions and more recently, the Snoopy MoonSwatches.

The latest Mission to the Super Blue Moonphase is priced at S$430.
