Oscars 2024: What the celebrities wore on the red carpet
The brightest and biggest stars stepped out in their red-carpet best for the 2024 Academy Awards.
The biggest night in film industry is here. Taking place at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on Monday morning, Singapore time (Mar 11), the 2024 Academy Awards celebrates the very best in movies – from screenplay to hair and makeup, music to acting.
Unsurprisingly, the biggest stars in the world turned up the heat to show off their red-carpet best.
Here’s what they wore.
MARGOT ROBBIE
Star and executive producer of one of the best-selling movies Barbie, Margot Robbie shimmied her way down the red carpet in a strapless, glittering Versace gown, a completely different look from her titular role.
LUPITA NYONG'O
Kenyan-Mexican actress Lupita Nyong'o makes her red carpet entrance in a glittering feather gown by Giorgio Armani.
GRETA LEE
Greta Lee is already wowing the world with her red-carpet looks during this year’s award season – from a custom Loewe at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards to a red Bottega Veneta look at the 14th Governors Awards. This time, the Past Lives leading actress continues to chalk up her style quotient with this elegant black and white velvet halterneck gown by Loewe.
CILLIAN MURPHY
This year's winner for best actor, Cillian Murphy chose a classic tuxedo for this big night.
Last year’s best actress winner at the Oscars, Michelle Yeoh took a risk with a custom Balenciaga dress, complete with pulled back hair and black opera gloves, a stark difference from her ethereal white Dior couture dress in 2023.
ANYA TAYLOR-JOY
While not a nominee this year, Anya Taylor-Joy is one of the A-list presenters at this year’s Oscars. She is in Christian Dior haute couture and Tiffany & Co jewellery.
RYAN GOSLING
Nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Barbie, Ryan Gosling wore Gucci, flashing a hint of Barbie pink in his socks.
AMERICA FERRERA
America Ferrera was a vision in custom Atelier Versace dress, Stuart Weitzman shoes, and Pomellato jewellery.
BILLIE EILISH
Nominated for the second time for Best Original Song, What Was I Made For, Billie Eilish made a bold move with a plaid, knee-length skirt, paired with a white shirt and a black peplum blazer from Chanel.
MATT BOMER
Matt Bomer looks elegant in a custom Brunello Cucinelli tuxedo.
ZENDAYA
Always making a stir on the red carpet, Zendaya chose to grace this year’s Academy Awards in Armani Prive and Bulgari jewellery.
CAREY MULLIGAN
This bustier-top gown is a custom piece inspired by Cristobal Balenciaga’s Winter 1951 collection. The atelier specially recreated this piece for Carey Mulligan using only sketches, photographs, and a swatch as guides. According to the luxury house, the original is currently in the Kyoto Costume Institute.
