Panerai's tribute to Singapore is now available at its revamped ION boutique
The 100-piece watch sports a Lion Head symbol on its case back and a special “Singapore” engraving on the lever of the crown-protecting bridge, all of which you can admire amid the refurbished surrounds of the ION Orchard flagship.
The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in changes to our shopping habits, one of which is the preference for convenient, fuss-free online purchases. With this in mind, retailers around the world are rethinking the design of their physical boutiques in order to draw in customers.
Panerai’s reopened 145 sq m Singapore flagship boutique, located in ION Orchard, gives a semblance of what retail looks like in a post-pandemic world, revamped for a more immersive retail experience that will motivate visitors to linger a little longer.
The boutique first opened in Singapore in 2011, closing in July this year for a refurbishment. It reopened its doors earlier this month.
Breaking away from the simplicity of the earlier design, the boutique now features a dynamic facade with animated screens and an interactive ecosystem inside.
Stepping into the boutique, customers will be greeted by a three-metre high wall clock, depicting a large-scale version of Panerai's legendary Luminor Marina PAM01312 dial, with the hour hand, minute hand and Arabic numerals in the watchmaker's iconic luminous green markings.
The boutique also houses a workshop, where coat-clad, in-house watchmakers work on their craft. Guests are given a sneak peek into the workshop courtesy of a window framed with an illuminated Luminor silhouette. The brand’s high complication watches and rare models are displayed in watch cloches outside the workshop.
In terms of design, the boutique features Italian oak, burnished brass and walls adorned with photographs that evoke the spirit of Italy and emphasises Panerai's association with the ocean.
The revamped boutique is also home to Asia’s first lounge, a private area designed for Italian Aperitivo (aperitifs) and other lifestyle experiences, and is reserved for VIP customers.
"We are very proud to have recreated one of Panerai's most significant boutiques amidst these exceptional times," said Jean-Marc Pontroue, CEO of Panerai. "We strive to continue pushing boundaries to engage clients in search of product innovations and spectacular experiences."
An extensive collection of more than 200 models are showcased at the boutique, including the new Luminor GMT ION Special Edition – 44mm (PAM01177), available in only 100 pieces and the first of its kind dedicated to the boutique.
A tribute to the Lion City, the watch features discreet customisation with the Lion Head, a special "Singapore" engraving and red, the dominant colour of the Singapore national flag.
