Watches & Wonders, the annual week-long international fair in Geneva where brands debut their latest luxury timepieces, kicked off its 2024 edition on Apr 9. This year, the storied, family-owned watchmaker Patek Philippe unveiled a total of 11 timepieces, including new models and fresh interpretations of its classics.
First launched as a limited edition to much fanfare at the Patek Philippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition Tokyo 2023, the Ref 5330 is now part of the watchmaker’s regular collection. This new-generation World Time is distinguished by a patented world’s first – a date display synchronised with local time. Rendered in white gold, the World Time Ref 5330G-001 has a blue-gray opaline dial, its centre adorned with a “carbon” motif.

The Golden Ellipse, first launched in 1968, is revived with an elegant chain-style bracelet in rose gold that wraps seamlessly around the contours of the wrist. The Golden Ellipse is instantly recognisable by the shape of its case and is the slimmest watch in the Patek Philippe regular collection.
The new bracelet, which took 15 years to develop, is secured by an engraved clasp with three adjustment notches and can easily be shortened or lengthened. The ebony-black sunburst dial features slender applied hour markers and hands, all in rose gold.

Patek Philippe also revisited the Nautilus self-winding flyback chronograph Ref 5980 with a new version in white gold with a blue-gray opaline dial. The timepiece comes with two strap options – one in blue-gray calfskin featuring an embossed denim motif with contrasting white hand-stitching, the other in a composite material presenting a fabric motif in blue-gray. The new Nautilus Flyback Chronograph Ref 5980/60G-001 houses a calibre CH 28-520 C self-winding movement grouping the chronograph indications in one large mono-counter at 6 o’clock.

The denim-tone strap also appears on the World Time with date display, an indication that Patek is injecting a more casual vibe to its timepieces.
Other highlights include a refined two-tone Alarm Travel Time featuring a case in rose gold and the tubes of the four pushes in white gold. The Alarm Travel Time Ref 5520RG-001 also sports a two-tone dial in grey sunburst and charcoal grey.

Powered by the calibre AL 30-660 S C FUS self-winding movement, this Grand Complication unites the exclusive Travel Time system for the display of a second time zone with a 24-hour alarm mechanism, with a hammer striking on a classic gong.
The women’s Twenty~4 collection, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, gets a new model. The quartz-powered Twenty~4 Ref 4910/1201R-010 has a stunning dial with a motif of concentric waves.

The embossed pattern is coated with several dozen fine layers of translucent lacquer, the first layers tinted purple, the later layers colourless, creating delicate plays of light and depth. The rectangular two-tier case is set with two rows of brilliant-cut diamonds.
