What Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Mukesh Ambani did for Deepavali
From lavish parties to quiet beach retreats, here’s what India's celebrities and business moguls got up to over the Deepavali weekend.
The godfather of Indian cinema – Amitabh Bachchan – and his family threw a Diwali bash on Sunday (Oct 27) evening, and, not surprisingly, the creme de la creme of Bollywood, as well as sports icons and business tycoons, were on the guest list.
Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan were spotted at the party (location undisclosed), as were captain of the Indian national cricket team, Virat Kholi, and his wife Anushka Sharma.
Actor Dulquer Salmaan, who was there with his wife Amal Sufiya, thanked Bachchan for being a gracious host, calling him “the OG superstar”.
Bachchan’s son Abhishek personally welcomed India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani (net worth: US$51.4 billion; S$70 billion) and his wife, Nita. Abhishek was later seen posing with his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, fashion designer Rocky Star, and Bipasha Basu. That shot was snapped by none other than Shah Rukh Khan himself.
Halfway across the world, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her hubby Nick Jonas spent the holiday in a villa in Cabo, Mexico. They were surrounded by a group of friends including singer Jordan McGraw and actress Lola Kelly.
The couple seemed content in their quietude, despite Jonas being the target of a recent sexual assault.
His Instagram post seemed forgiving and positive: “Happy Diwali to you and yours. Sending love and light to all of you all around the world.”
